Last Run Of The Year

I don't usually like running around the lower Rivington trails as there are too many people around and too many other dogs for Ruby to go after but today, after yesterday's tough beach session, I fancied a nice easy run. Off I went from my house, past the llamas (which Ruby again wanted to chase), down to Lever Park Avenue, to Liverpool Castle, along the edge of the reservoir, past the prep school, past the bowling club heading in the direction of Lead Mines Clough, but then turning right down the hill and back along the stream, up the steps, across the field to Sheephouse Lane, past the stocks then back along the same route along the reservoir.

On my outward route I passed a couple who, sadly, had lost their Beagle and asked if I had seen him. I hope they find him but if anyone spots a lone Beagle running around Rivington, please let me know.

I also bumped into a lady with a Patterdale cross which looked a lot like Ruby but was a bit bigger and had a full tail. Apparently she is a nightmare with sheep too and got her owner into a spot of bother a couple of weeks ago when she jumped over a wall and harassed a sheep but the lady couldn't get over the wall to get her back. Terriers, who'd have em?

The heavens opened on our way back home and Ruby wasn't best pleased and kept stopping to shake off the rain. When we got home I got her straight into the shower which is becoming very regular now as she is usually dripping with mud. After her shower she goes mental running around the house chasing toys, Duncan says it's to get warm and dry off. She's so full of energy though. The other day we did nearly 11 hilly miles and she still got home and wanted to play with her toys, whereas I just wanted to flop down on the couch with a cup of tea.

So my last run of 2013 was pretty uneventful really. I think tomorrow will consist more of a long walk with a thermos of tea than a run as I'm going to be out drinking tonight so will probably be in no fit state. Have a good New Year's Eve!

Total distance - 5.3 miles
